Shell House has received the prestigious Australian Engineering Excellence Award. An excellent recognition of the creative engineering employed to retain this complex heritage structure, which showcases the ingenuity of the team involved in its delivery. The major restoration and re-invention of this renowned Sydney landmark would not have been possible without the pioneering concept and subsequent construction of the Shell House Temporary Retention Works.

“We are delighted to receive this prestigious Australian Engineering Excellence Award for Shell House and share such a complex piece of Construction Engineering with our peers and the wider engineering community.

Although temporary, this piece of construction engineering has a long lasting legacy through the retention of the original heritage façade and the clock tower. The project has had many challenges and been very rewarding for our team at TTW with a recent highlight having our whole team present for the final load transfer as we lowered the clocktower onto its permanent support.

As with all great projects, Shell House was a fantastic collaboration between our Client, Builder, subcontractors and the wider project team. I would like to personally thank Brookfield Properties, Make Architects, Architectus, Multiplex, Slabtec, Belmore, Mulhern, Delta and our team at TTW for their outstanding work in restoring this iconic Sydney landmark.” Kevin Berry
