The new Synergy building at the CSIRO Black Mountain Science & Innovation Park has just won four great awards. Acknowledging the facility’s “architectural finesse”, the Australian Institute of Architects ACT chapter presented the prestigious Romaldo Guirgola Award for Public Architecture and the Derek Wrigley Award for Sustainable Architecture, as well as an award for Interior Architecture. The jury commented that “Every opening to the façade is thoughtfully considered” and the structure delivers highly functional laboratory spaces that “…despite their strict environmental requirements (are) incredibly refreshing and well executed”.
Additionally, the project was the recipient of the Work Space Award at the INDESIGNLIVE Asia Pacific INDE.Awards, recognising a working environment that meets the needs of people without compromising on social, cultural or functional aspects. As the ACT jury for public architecture noted, this project “…yields a workplace that seeks to restore the spirits and wellbeing of a revered organisation”.
Congratulations to the entire project team at Architecture BVN and Laing O’Rourke, including TTW’s structural and façade engineers who contributed to this wonderful achievement.
