Located on a ridge, the design of uniting 'old and new' forms a new landmark for one of the most prominent sites in the Illawarra region. The structure is skilfully composed by the slender edges of cantilevered roof planes and vertical walls. The 9-storey extension forms the second stage of a 400 bed redevelopment, new elective surgical services and ambulatory care facility, extensions to the emergency department plus an additional radiotherapy bunker and complete refurbishment of the integrated cancer centre.
