Ensuring minimal disruptions during construction was key to delivering this road infrastructure upgrade, which was critical to economic growth and social development.

TTW was engaged by CPBJH to provide detailed design of the Mackenzie Road realignment (including the Simms Road, Dahlenberg Road and Footscray Road interface) to facilitate construction of the Mackenzie Road on-ramp at the Northern Portal of the West Gate Tunnel project. The temporary road was subject to the rigour of a full VicRoads and IR review process.
The design involved complex geometry and vertical design to navigate through and over major crane slabs and construction compounds. Given the complex grades transition between proposed and existing levels, the carriageway was subject to a slope stability analysis and aquaplaning review.
To successfully implement the works, the design was delivered in numerous stages to allow free flowing traffic throughout the duration of the works.
