The Sovereign Resort project comprises of the expansion of the existing Star Casino in Pyrmont, Sydney.
The expansion’s aim is to enhance the visitor experience by creating a new restaurant, bar and gaming areas, with the works including the addition of a new level on top of the existing building. These works also make provisions for the addition of future levels and resort facilities including swimming pools, further restaurants and rooftop bar areas.
The new level requires large column-free spaces with the grid arrangement typically matching the existing buildings 16.6 m x 16.6 m grid. Mezzanine plant rooms to the east, which are required to service the new extension, are hung from the long span roof beams. Raised floors are provided throughout, with some areas doubling as plenums to allow for the redirection of the existing bus lane exhaust risers from the main gaming areas to back of house and plant room areas. Water features and landscaped gardens are located throughout with planting depths up to 1m.
