The $7.5M Sydney Lyric Theatre project required a complete mix of both technical and aesthetic design.
The entire construction of this project took place within just nine weeks and required meticulous planning to deliver this stunning new theatre space in the span between two show productions.The new design includes major structural works to the existing theatre, a complete renovation of the auditorium and extension of seating through the complex structural methodology. TTW engineers carried out a detailed structural analysis on the existing building and developed an innovative solution for extension of the existing balconies - using a tuned mass damper to control occupant perception of motion. This created a more intimate theatre experience that will be a significant feature for the audiences at upcoming shows.
