Significant upgrades and enhanced capacity for a hospital that has responded to health needs in the community for over 100 years
The redevelopment project for St Vincent’s Private Hospital involves construction within a live hospital environment bounded by buildings on all four sides of the site. The team is working within these constraints to deliver a new 15-storey Clinical Wing, vertical extension to existing for a new CSSD and full refurbishing of existing buildings. The new wing will incorporate expanded inpatient units, two new operating theatres, new ambulatory care services, new rehabilitation service with hydrotherapy pool, redeveloped staff cafeteria, and additional doctors’ suites.
Addressing the site congestion required construction over the existing building by transferring the column grid. This high-quality project utilises complex engineering solutions to maximise hospital floor area, including cantilevered modular fire stairs, new lifts through the existing hospital, and modular bathroom pods suspended off the side of the existing building.
