Australia's first integrated station development

Designed as a town centre, the Forum comprises a new train station with two prestige residential towers (46 and 30 storey) above and three commercial office buildings, including eight basement levels, all situated over mixed retail and a food court.

TTW provided structural engineering services for both the station and OSD for what was at the time, Australia's first Integrated Station Development from RFT to completion.

Being the first of its type the project required in depth engineering and collaboration with the specialist consultants to ensure the buildings above were not subject to the transfer of structure-borne noise from the rail below. To protect the office building over the rail lines it was constructed on bearings above the podium level.

Other challenging aspects of the project included:

  • Complex staging with temporary platforms and rail cross overs.
  • Precast crash deck over live tracks.
  • Isolation of rail vibration from residential and commercial towers.
  • RMS interface with an existing Highway bridge.
