New Squadron Headquarters, heavy vehicle maintenance facility and office accommodation plus 7 other minor buildings

The RAAF Richmond project was delivered in a fast track format under the defence panel agreement.

TTW provided an innovative solution for the structure of the Squadron Headquarters building to achieve the natural ventilation requirements of the ESD initiative. This involved a structural steel frame with Precast hollow core flooring. Holes were cored in the soffits of the panels to allow air to enter the cores and travel over full height partitioned areas, allowing natural cross ventilation and utilisation of thermal mass of the structure. This was rewarded with a 5.5 star as built score card for the project.
