The cultural hub transforming a historic inland port town
This project involved the full redevelopment of the existing building and transforming it into a multi-use building for the local community.
Key elements included redeveloping the building to house the regional Gippsland Art Gallery, relocation and expansion of the Sale Library, relocation of the Visitor Information Centre, new council chambers, provision of public use meeting rooms, children's art exhibition space, an art workshop space, links to outdoor parks, waterways and bike paths.
In the early stages of the project TTW assessed the impact of flooding on the significant development proposal, providing ideas on freeboard and potential mitigation options, taking into account the sites location within a flood overlay.
Other flood services included:
- Review of historical flood studies and flood management plans
- Assessment of topography and extent of flood overlay contouring for various flood events up to 100 years ARI
- Freeboard advice for new development
- Flood extent mapping using 3D software
- Flood impact reporting
