North Sydney Pool
North Sydney, NSW
An icon trailing the North of Sydney Harbour a complete refurbishment of the existing 10m pool to a new 25m pool, gym, sauna and restaurant. The new pool sits within a platform that provides a unique view of the harbour. The architectural intent was to create a mutual and respectful relationship between the old and new while celebrating the grandeur of the location. Collaborating between architect and contractor we engineered the pool to cut into the existing terraced form. It is separated from the original structure by a gallery located adjacent to the prevailing sandstone wall.
The North Sydney Pool redevelopment consisted of the refurbishment of the heritage 10m pool, grand stand and changing rooms, and a new 25m indoor pool and a new elevated restaurant. The work included refinishing the concrete structures. The new pool building features a cantilever roof over the existing grand stand.
