An icon trailing the North of Sydney Harbour

An icon trailing the North of Sydney Harbour, the North Sydney Pool redevelopment included a complete refurbishment of the existing 10m pool to a new 25m pool, gym, sauna, changing room and grand stand. A new 25m indoor pool with an elevated restaurant was also part of the works. The new pool sits within a platform that provides a unique view of the harbour. The new building features a cantilever roof over the existing grand stand. The work included refinishing the concrete structures.

The architectural intent was to create a mutual and respectful relationship between the old and new while celebrating the grandeur of the location. Collaborating between architect and contractor we engineered the pool to cut into the existing terraced form. It is separated from the original structure by a gallery located adjacent to the prevailing sandstone wall.
