Connecting learning and living on campus

This project involved integrating the new student hall into the high quality original buildings. The existing structures consisted of beautiful 1890s heritage listed residences, with a 1970s structure at the rear. The structural design was central to delivering an outstanding aesthetic response, and to successfully integrating old and new.

An additional floor was carefully added to the existing 1970s building, and a new glass atrium structure introduced to link the original buildings to the new wing. Cantilevering slabs were added to the lobby inside the atrium to add circulation space and to create an area of exceptional quality. Significant refurbishment work was undertaken throughout the remainder of the building to create the high-quality final result.
