Delivering heroic community access to knowledge

The library at Blacktown, an open and inviting public building, provides a sense of equitable access to knowledge and information. Designed to cater for a culturally diverse population, the library incorporates children's areas, youth areas, technology service areas, flexible function spaces, exhibition facilities and a café .

The library has become an iconic hub for the Bankstown community, uniting people in a contemporary, fresh and intimate civic space. The prominent metallic louvres are a key feature of the building, which help to feed natural light through the reading spaces and give respect to the books and their readers.

The new features of the building include a central atrium and stairs.
