Contemporary and efficient accommodation for busy airport

Targeted to in-transit passengers at an increasingly busy airport, the new Mantra Hotel is an attractive and contemporary eight-storey building, with a reflected glass Façade , and an aerofoil 'fin' feature on the roof. It provides 136 rooms, restaurant and accommodation services for travellers.

The building's structure utilises post-tensioned beams with precast walls, and an ultrafloor slab system, which allowed for fast and efficient construction. Design challenges included the soft soil conditions of the location - necessitating the use of bored piled footings in the site's deep sand.

Located just a short walk from domestic terminals, the project was required to coordinate with neighbouring buildings and external road works also under development. The hotel opened in July 2017, and has been greeted as a welcome addition to much-needed facilities for the ever-growing number of air travellers.
