Iglu Russell Street is a 28-storey student accommodation building occupying a prominent block on the corners of Russell and Lt Lonsdale Streets in the Melbourne CBD.

Construction involved challenging site conditions with existing heritage properties adjacent with a requirement to temporarily support these buildings whilst also undertaken excavation and construction on the site.
The small block and minimalist architectural expression belie the complexities of construction on such a small, constrained site.
TTW undertook a complex conceptual design phase to ensure minimal transfers whilst still maximizing clear spaces on the podium floors. The clever structural solution brings a considered balance from both a costing and architectural perspective helping our client achieve their aspirations.

A key focus on design for manufacture and assembly was adopted on the job to maximise efficiencies through construction.
