An iconic harbour side retail destination, reinvigorating Sydney's Circular Quay

Gateway Plaza, at 1 Macquarie Place is one of the first projects set to reinvigorate Circular Quay. The development comprises the refurbishment of the existing 7-storey podium structure at the base of the 40-storey Credit Suisse Tower to provide new retail, restaurants, rooftop bars and outdoor eating spaces.

TTW has been engaged by DEXUS to provide structural and civil design services to allow infilling of the existing atrium voids, the installation of a new Façade, the replacement of the existing skylight and the extension of the building east towards Loftus Street and Jessie Street Gardens. This has involved the design of complex strengthening works including hanging the Level 6 slab from a series of long-span raking transfer beams located at Level 7, the omission of 70% of the structural columns along Alfred Street opening up views to Circular Quay. The installation of new escalators and lifts and the creation of additional floor space by the construction of new infill floors over the existing basement structure.

Once complete the development is set to service existing office customers, residents and local and overseas visitors.
