The Teaching and Learning 01 Building will be a 5-storey structure with a partial basement comprising approximately 12,000sqm GFA accomodating general classroom spaces, specialist laboratories, auditorium, incubator spaces and an open atrium connecting the five floors.

The central atrium structure has been designed with long clear spans with very few columns to provide an elegant and cost-effective solution to a relatively open ground plane which is the heart of the building. A concrete structure with post-tensioned band beams and slabs has been adopted to accommodate the stepped profile of the building.

Our civil team worked closely with the architects and landscape team to reconcile the significant gradients across the site to ensure universal DDA compliance, and produce an integrated civil & landscape design response, which ties the new building into the existing campus and the broader masterplan.
