Parliament Square is in one of the most prominent positions in Hobart behind parliament home and in site of the surrounding heritage buildings (1880).
The project consists of a new 8-level office block to replace the taller concrete building at 10 Murray Street. The heritage building, with additions, was to be restored to form a new boutique hotel. The remainder of the site forms a new plaza.
The main architectural feature of the office building is a series of Y frame columns supporting the rear of the building next to the 4 metre high heritage retaining wall.
