Sydney Adventist Hospital
Over a century old, the Sydney Adventist Hospital underwent a $350 million multi-stage redevelopment and expansion in 2014 that is set to enable a sustainable 50 years of growth.
A cohesive building strategy ensured all hospital operation was business as usual. The project was a staged development, consisting of a number of combined buildings providing for 250 additional beds, 12 theatres, a comprehensive Cancer Center, medical support services, a new education facility, a new car park, new entry podium and concourse.
To date a new car park expanding over 5 levels has been constructed, connecting to a new entry podium that integrates the existing clinical service building. The multi deck car park, offering 854 spaces, is located on the northern boundary of the 17 hectare site. Directly to the north of the site is an extensive bush land and riparian zone. The car park is located in a high hazard bushfire zone which is deemed unsafe for normal building usage. To overcome the issue of radiant heat from bushfire threat, 5-storey high precast concrete blades are strategically placed to protect the car park.
