Anzac Memorial Hyde Park
Sydney CBD, NSW
“The Anzac memorial design is intended to express with dignity and simplicity neither the glory nor to the glamour of war but these nobler attributes of human nature which the great tragedy of nations so vividly brought forth – courage, endurance and sacrifice” – Architect Bruce Dellit
In 2015, Australia marked the 100th anniversary of the great war and to commemorate this, the Anzac Memorial Centenary project will see the original 1930s vision for the Memorial, by Sydney architect Bruce Dellit, finally complete. A $40 million dollar upgrade will feature the original design of a water cascade stretching towards Liverpool Street, which was never realised following the advent of the Great Depression.
Working in collaboration with design architects JPW and the NSW Government Architect’s office, TTW realised the need for a long span carrying landscape using deep precast beams.
