Padraig is a chartered structural engineer with 8 years’ experience across Ireland, UK, Canada and Australia. He has a strong technical and practical background having worked both as a structural engineer and a construction manager throughout his career. His ability to work closely with builders and architects to provide practical, cost-effective solutions to complex structures has allowed him to deliver projects across a variety of industries across the globe. He most recently delivered Opera Residences, a $150m dollar residential development overlooking the Sydney Opera House and the Botanic Gardens.

    Why did you become an engineer? What inspired you to become one?

    I worked on the tools with dad who is a carpenter since I was 12 years of age, so I always had an appetite for the construction industry. I remember one day on site when I was still young being overawed an engineer who sketched a detail a refill pad for us while standing on a roof rafter. I thought, that’s what I want to do.

    Best thing about being an engineer?

    Getting to help people every day whether it is trying to fix a problem for a client/architect or mentoring a younger engineer. I like that the profession is full of humble people who genuinely like what they do and want to make a positive impact on society.
