Technical Director, engineer software developer and Chartered Professional Engineer, Dean Genner leads TTW’s rapidly expanding Advanced Technology group. He is responsible for finite element analysis of structures, 3D modelling, in-house technical software development, in-house web development and computer system management.

    Dean’s skills and knowledge in engineering modelling and software design are rare and highly sought after by clients. His ability to dissect complex geometrical designs from architects has seen Dean’s involvement with many award-winning and bespoke architectural buildings.

    His accolade of projects have included International Architectural Award winner White Bay Cruise Passenger Terminal, Star City Casino redevelopment and Norman Foster, The Lumiere.

    You’ve been doing computer-related engineering for over 40 years, what motivates you?

    Personally I love the challenge of complex geometry. Every project is different, and using 3D analysis and modelling we can truly create more exciting, free-form structures.

    How do you think the industry is changing?

    From my perspective, engineering is integrating under computerised technology. Our in-house analysis streamlines the entire design process rapidly and efficiently – this is a real asset for clients. I started working with computer aided design in 1979. With it came the promise of integration of all engineering tasks into an efficient and thorough process. Now almost 40 years later, after many iterations, the vision is at hand.
